TCU LATE NIGHT CLASS OUTLINE

 

 

GOALS

 

Our goal is to air TCU Late Night/ with Michael Numberman on KTVT Channel 11 at least once a month for a year, through the means of using students as the assembelence of the program.

 

PROCEDURE

 

A. Sales - 3 hrs.

1. Numberman Productions has two 30 minute programs, with 8 minutes of commercial time

on each, that are ready to be aired.

a) Will have a sales group try to sell time at the given rates. - (see Ad Proposal)

 

2. We will go after major advertisers such as ones we already have established connections.

a) Will tell advertisers that we will produce 8 TCU Late Night programs a

semester and start off by airing once a month.

 

b) It will be sponsored just in the same way as the Olympics are sponsored.

 

3. We will also seek help of small local businesses.

a) Can have a bill-board for $75.00 (beginning and end of the program).

 

b) Can have reduced rate 30 Sec spot if they have a canned commercial.

 

4. The Ad. revenue will go towards production costs and scholarship funds.

a) Production costs

1) Set construction

2) Tapes - video

3) Phone - if necessary

4) Hotel accommodations for guests appearing on program.

5) Poster boards and note cards for writers.

6) Props

 

b) Scholarship funds

1) 1/2 tuition paid by university for the two producers.

2) 3 hrs. for head writer.

3) 3 hrs. for Director.

4) 6 hrs. for Editor.

 

B. Writers - 3 hrs.

1. Will have meetings three times a week for 1 hr.

a) Head writer will assign jobs:

1) Monologue

2) Top Ten

3) Guest questions

4) Show themes

5) Chit - chat with Mike and Paul

 

b) Will vote on material to be used at the end of each week. 1 faculty supervisor

present and producers.

 

c) Will have written 1 show every two weeks.

 

2. Writers can come to meetings on a volunteer basis to submit material but don't have voting

privileges.

 

C. Set Designers - 1 hr.

1. Will create a set that has the same basic layout as does Letterman's.

a) Will have a head set designer that has overall say in the style of the set.

 

2. Will meet once a week to design set and build

 

3. will construct and take down set on shooting dates.

 

D. Technicians - 3 hrs.

1. Director will have control of meetings and job assignments.

 

2. Will meet once a week to discuss program. (2 hrs) at night.

 

3. Will bring in some alumni to act as crew members.

 

4. Crew members will remain the same throughout the semester.

 

E. Producers - 6 hrs.

1. Executive producer.

a) Works with the faculty supervisor in choosing the key staff positions

 

b) Will attend writers meeting at end of week to vote.

 

c) Will work with faculty in all program decisions.

 

d) Will act as liaison between staff and faculty.

 

e) Will give evaluations of staff to faculty for grading purposes.

 

2. Producer

a) Works with faculty supervisor in choosing key staff positions.

 

b) Will attend writers meeting at end of week to vote.

 

c) Handles all production aspects

1) Decides order of guests.

2) Meets with head of departments (Head writer, Director, Set designer,and Talent coordinator to coordinate events.)

F. Talent Department - 3 hrs.

1. Talent Coordinator

a) Will coordinate talent department.

 

b) Will decide on what guests appear.

 

2. Talent Assistant

a) Will type the letters to the talent.

 

b) Will assist Talent Coordinator.

 

G. Faculty Supervisor

1. Decides grade of staff with producers assistance.

 

2. Meets with writers to vote on material to be used.

 

3. Will work with producers in choosing key staff positions.

 

MISCELLANEOUS

 

A. Master Copies will be put in archives in Tandy film library.

 

B. In the Fall of 1990, Program Proposals will be reveiwed by faculty to decide on which show will be

instituted.
